We are currently looking for a Lead Youth Worker and a Youth Worker to join our team.

 

LEAD YOUTH WORKER

Job Title Lead Youth Worker
Reports to: Chief Executive
Supervisor

Responsibility:

Yes – staff delivery team, volunteers and student placements
Location: Based in our office at Sherburn Hill Community HUB. Delivering sessions from multiple locations across Durham. Working four evenings a week Monday-Thursday.

 

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Holidays:          28 days (including bank holidays) Plus gifted annual leave for birthday and 3 days at Christmas.
Salary: Starting salary £29,225 - £35,100 depending on experience and qualifications
Contract Type: 24 month fixed contract (renwable depending on funding) Full Time

 

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, committed and enthusiastic Lead Youth Worker to join a highly motivated and successful team here at Durham Area Youth.

This is a challenging but hugely rewarding role and one that will provide an opportunity for a talented youth work professional to develop further, the impact of our work. The role requires a proactive, organised and practical approach to ensure programmes are delivered effectively and efficiently.

The post holder will plan, undertake and lead youth work sessions and projects, working directly with young people aged 6-18 years old, helping them to build trusted relationships, becoming more informed during key development ages and having a voice at the heart of making decisions that provide a sense of purpose and achievement.

You will be passionate about empowering young people to make positive change for themselves and their communities. You will be able to be agile, having the ability to adapt your approach, using your own initiative, whilst also working effectively as part of a team. You will show authenticity in your leadership, be open to empathetic conversations and be trustworthy.
Positivity, enthusiasm and ambition will be important for the role.

You will have experience and an awareness of all or some of the following, delivery of quality youth work practise safeguarding, confidentiality, risk assessments, social action, training and development, monitoring, impact fundraising and social media. Ideally you will have a driving license and be willing to travel.

The post will be funded by Sir James Knott and National Lottery.

 

YOUTH WORKER

Location: Delivering sessions from multiple locations across Durham. Working a minimum 2 evenings a week Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

Hours of Work: 10 hours per week
Holidays:          11 days based on 10 hours a week. Plus gifted annual leave for birthday and 3 days at Christmas.
Salary: £13.50 an hour
Contract Type: 24 month contract (renewable depending on funding)
